Food For Fines Success(May 3, 2010)  Thanks to all of you who brought in food to help pay down your fines and fees during National LIbrary Week.  You benefited from an easy way to make your card usable again, and the local food pantries benefited from the donations.  Pictured are library staff with a sampling of the food donated by generous library patrons.

Food for Fines

(April 12, 2010) This week the library is accepting donations of non-perishable food items in exhange for overdue fines that you may have accumulated.  All food collected will be given to the Minerva Salvation Army for distribution to local food pantries. The rate of exhange is one can of soup, boxed prepared meal, bag of rice, etc. for $1 in fines. This food drive is part of our Communities Thrive @ Your Library celebration, and we will gratefully accept any additional food donations to aid the local pantries.

Spring Book Sale

(April 12, 2010)  The library's spring book sale begins today and runs through Saturday, April 17.  There are books for all ages and interests for sale at attractive prices.  This spring we also have a large selection of VHS tapes for both children and adults.  All proceeds from the sale will be used to purchase new library materials for you to check out and enjoy. 

The Library's Strategic Plan Is Now Available

(March 27, 2010)  At its regular monthly meeting this past Wednesday, the Library's Board of Trustees approved the Minerva Public Library Strategic Plan developed over the past several months by Library staff.  This plan will guide staff in directing the Library's activities over the next 24 months.  Community members participated in information gathering meetings last fall, and we are grateful for their help.  Comments and questions about the plan are welcome.  Use the

The Library is now accepting donations for the spring book sale.

(March 11, 2010)  The Library will hold its spring book sale from Monday, April 12 through Saturday, April 17 as part of the celebration of National Library Week.  We welcome your donations of books, DVDs, CDs, VHS tapes, and magazines to add to the sale.  Donations are acknowledged in writing if you wish.  All procedes from the book sale will be used to purchase new library matererials this year for you to check out and enjoy. 

The Library's 2009 Annual Report Is Available

(March 3, 2010) The Library has posted its Annual Report for 2009.  The Report provides a brief overview of the Library's activities and accomplishments during the preceeding year.  Despite the shortfalls in library funding last year, you still checked out more library materials than ever before, and enjoyed a wide variety of programs and services.  The Library Trustees and staff appreciate your continued interest and support, and, as always, welcome

Income Tax Forms Available

(February 20, 2010)  Ohio Income Tax forms  have finally arrived!  The library has received an ample supply of Ohio personal income tax return forms and instructions.  Additional state tax forms and instructions are available online from the Ohio Department of Taxation.  The library has a basic assortment of federal income tax forms, schedules, and instructions available for you to pick up as well.  All federal tax forms, instructions, and publications are

Library Closed Monday, February 15

(February 12, 2010) The library will be closed Monday, February 18 for a day of leave without pay for all staff. This closing is part of the library's plan to manage the expected reduction in library funding this year. All staff will take leave without pay on January 18, February 15, October 11, and November 26 and 27. In addition all staff have had their hours of work reduced by 10% for 2010 and the Library Director and Fiscal Officer have taken 10% cuts in their salaries.
