Dr. Seuss Birthday Party

(February 21, 2013)

All Seuss lovers ages 3 and up are invited to CELEBRATE DR. SEUSS' BIRTHDAY on Saturday, March 2,  2:00 - 3:30 pm. Our celebration will include some of Seuss' classic stories as well as Seussical games, crafts and more!If you wish, feel free to dress silly or dress Seuss!  Children ages 3-7 should be accompanied by an adult.  Please sign-up at the Youth Desk or call 330-868-4101.  See you there!

Letterboxing Basics Program

(March 5, 2013)  Both youth and adults are invited to explore Letterboxing Basics in the library community room on Saturday, March 16 from 2:00 to 3:30 pm.  You will learn the history and basics of letterboxing, create a trail name and stamp, then follow clues to find a letterbox or two in Minerva.  If you plan to join us for the "hunt", please sign up at the Youth Services Desk or call the library at 330-868-4101.

Book Sale Starts Saturday

(March 6, 2013) Spring comes early to the library this year when the book sale begins at 10:00 am this Saturday, March 9.   As always, a wide variety of books for all ages and interests will be sold at attractive prices.  The sale runs through the following Saturday, March 16, and new items are added every day; make plans to stop back often.  Proceeds go to support library programs and to purchase new materials this year for you to check out and enjoy. 

LEGO DAY Saturday, April 6

(March 18, 2013) Do you love building with Legos?  You can get together and create with other kids who like them too!  Minerva Public Library will be hosting another Lego Day on Saturday, April 6th from 2:00-3:30 pm in the Community Room on the library's lower level. This entertaining activity is designed for ages 6 and up.  Parents are encouraged to attend. Because space is limited, registration is required.  Stop at the Youth Desk to sign up or call 330-868-4101 and ask for Youth Services.

Make & Take Art, Lettering ABCs

(April 22, 2013)  Have you ever wanted to learn calligraphy, the art of beautiful writing?  Now is your chance to give it a try!  Join us for our Make & Take Art, Family Fun Special this Saturday, April 27,  2:00 to 3:30 pm.   This entertaining activity is planned for all family members ages 6 and up. In Lettering ABCs you will learn and practice the Foundational calligraphy alphabet.  Then using pens, paper, and paste you will make a creative fold starburst book to take home.  Space is limited so call the library today at 330-868-4101 to sign up.

Library Book Sale Coming Soon

(May 20, 2013)  The library is preparing for its summer book sale and is accepting of good condition books, DVDs, CDs, and magazines.   The sale will be held June 15-June 22 and will conclude with the popular $1 a bag pricing.  Plan to enjoy the Minerva Homecoming and stop in at the library.  Proceeds from the sale are used to support library programs and to purchase new items this year for you to check out and enjoy. 

Paypal for Fines and Fees

(May 20, 2013) You've asked and we've delivered.  Library patrons may now pay off those pesky overdue fines through Paypal from the comfort of your own computer or web-capable device.  It's fast, secure, and easy! Log-in to your library account online.  Click the Fines tab and either log-in to your Paypal account or use a credit card as a guest.  The payment will credit almost immediately to your library account clearing the way for you to check out, renew, place holds, and more.

First Book Blast of the Summer!

(June 5, 2013) Book Blast Summer Reading Program. This Friday, June 7, 12-1 pm.  FREE LUNCH FOR ALL KIDS. Enjoy stories while you eat plus fun & exciting special guests! This week, the Stark Parks Sanders Wildlife Rehabilitation Center will bring live animals as we learn about underground animals and Dig Into Reading. Register at the Youth Desk. Children 4 years old through 4th grade receive a reading record when they sign up. Each five books checked out of the library means a chance to win weekly prizes!  Parents, grandparents are encouraged to attend. Children 7 and under must be accompanied by an adult. Come celebrate our 100th year of Reading at Minerva Public Library!

SCORE Workshop for Nonprofits

The Canton Regional Chapter of SCORE in partnership with the Stark County Community Foundation will present a workshop for nonprofit organizations here at the library on Wednesday, June 19 from 1:00 to 3:00 pm.  Topics covered include structuring a board of trustees, developing a business plan, structuring a marketing plan, establishing outcomes and performance indicators, complying with IRS requirements, and financing and budgeting.  Registration is required.  Call SCORE at 330-244-3280 or e-mail  cantonscore@gmail.com.
