Toddlers, moms, grandmas, and babies filled the lower level of the library
with excitement every Wednesday morning this summer!  
Book Beginnings provided stories, songs, friends and fun
for this lively group of 0 - 3 year olds and their parents or caregivers.
Book Beginnings will continue through the school year every Wednesday morning from10:30-11:00.  Watch us shake our doo-dahs! 

School age children got to sign up for their special time to read
with our two gentle Golden Retriever friends. 
Buster and Gracie visited the library on Thursday mornings
from 11:00 to 12:00 this summer 
accompanied by their gentle humans, Ray and Sharon Morgenstern. 

Middle School teens met at the library
each Tuesday afternoon from 1:00 to 2:00 last summer. 
They became world travelers by experiencing
the language, culture, and cuisine of countries
from a different continent each week.

Summer Reading 2014:  Fizz, Boom, Read!

We encouraged children of all ages to FIZZ BOOM READ and earn Reading Rewards as they explored the WILD WORLD OF SCIENCE in our Summer Reading Programs 2014.   

WEDNESDAY MORNINGS

The teen reading group Library Lions met on Tuesdays during the summer for lunch, fun and creative activities. Some of their many fun and creative activities were reading in a tent, making tie-dye pillowcases, creating scratch art bookmarks, gathering round a "campfire" in their sleeping bags, and defacing posters of their favorite pop stars!
 

Visit the Minerva Public Library and sign your child up for this free program to encourage reading 1000 books with your child before he or she enters kindergarten--a goal that experts say will help a child learn to read for themselves.

Reading together helps develop important pre-reading skills that provide a solid reading foundation that can be a key to school and learning success.  Besides, sharing books and stories together is just fun!
