Tax Form Update

(February 9, 2011) Good news!   The form 1040 instruction books arrived at the library this afternoon.  The library now has forms and instructions for all three federal tax returns--the 1040, 1040A, and 1040EZ--as well as the Ohio income tax and school income tax forms.  The library also has several of the basic schedules for the 1040, as well as an assortment of other popular forms.  All are free for the taking.  Federal forms are also available online at IRS.gov, and Ohio state forms are

Library Closed, Monday, February 21

(February 15, 2011) The library will be closed Monday, February 21,  as a furlough day without pay for all library staff. This closed day is the second of five furlough days all staff will take in 2011 as part of the library's measures to reduce spending in expectation of receiving no more than the reduced funding from the State of Ohio the library received in 2010. No library materials are due on any day that the library is closed.

Voter Registration Reminder

(March 18,2011)  The deadline to register to vote in the May 3, 2011 primary election is Monday, April 4, 2011.  Voter registration forms are available here at the library, and the library will send those forms in to the Ohio Secretary of State's Office for you.  Absentee Ballot request forms are also available at the library. 

Changes to Library Funding

(March 27, 2011)  Library patrons may wonder how the current struggle to balance Ohio’s next biennium budget will affect library funding.  On March 15, the Governor sent his proposed budget to the Legislature.  It includes a reduction in the amount of money sent to the Public Library Fund during the two years of the next biennium budget, July 2011—June, 2013.  Because the State budget year begins in July and the library’s budget year begins in January, one needs to do some

Spring Book Sale--Coming Soon!

(March 29, 2011) The library's spring book sale begins Friday, April 8, at 10:00 and runs through Saturday, April 16.  This year we will have a good assortment of children's books for sale, along with the usual wide of books for all ages and interests, and some VHS and DVDs.  The last day of the sale, Saturday, April 16, is the ever-popular $1-a-bag sale day.  The book sale is open all the hours the library is open, and new items are added every day.  Proceeds support library programs and the purchase this year of new materials for you to check out and enjoy.

Vegetable Gardening 101
