LIBRARY ASSISTANT - TEEN SERVICES

Do you enjoy working with teenagers and tweens? Can you connect with young people in a friendly yet authoritative manner? Do you want to work with a team of exceptional individuals to support your community? The Minerva Public Library is seeking a new Library Assistant - Teen, and we would like you to consider joining our team.

Our ideal candidate is someone who will help to provide vital services to the people of Minerva. This position requires an individual who is comfortable working with young people, is enthusiastic, patient, and committed to delivering excellent customer service, and can create and present engaging programs to patrons aged 10-17.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School Diploma required.
  • Associate’s Degree preferred.
  • Prior customer service experience is required.
  • Prior experience working with youth ages 10-17 preferred.
  • Communicate effectively and concisely, orally and in writing.
  • Adept at using computers and other standard office equipment,
  • Ability to accurately organize items by subject or in alphanumeric order.
  • Able to work a flexible schedule of 20-29 hours to support the Library's open hours.
    • Includes daytime and evening hours, as well as weekdays and weekends.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES :

  • Assists patrons at all public service points, including over the phone.
  • Provides instruction on the use of library services.
  • Resolves issues related to patron records, complaints, fees, and holds.
  • Performs desk duties and processes library transactions.
  • Responds to situations in accordance with Library policies.
  • Cares for and maintains the Library collection.
  • Creates and presents Library programming for our teen & tween patrons.
  • Provides services to teen & tween patrons, including reference and reader’s advisory.

BENEFITS

  • Starting at $13.25 per hour depending on experience.

LIBRARY AIDE

Do you like helping people? Do you enjoy interacting with a diverse range of people and sharing information? Do you want to work with a team of exceptional individuals to support your community? The Minerva Public Library is seeking new Library Aides, and we would like you to consider joining our team.

Our ideal candidate is someone who will help provide vital services to the people of Minerva and is comfortable working with the public, being enthusiastic, patient, and committed to delivering excellent customer service. This position will assist the public at library service points, checking materials in and out, answering patron questions, processing card applications, answering phones, and performing collection maintenance in the stacks.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School Diploma required.
  • Prior customer service experience is required.
  • Communicate effectively and concisely, orally and in writing.
  • Adept at using computers and other standard office equipment,
  • Ability to accurately organize items by subject or in alphanumeric order.
  • Able to work a flexible schedule of 12-19 hours.
    • Includes daytime and evening hours, as well as weekdays and weekends.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES :

  • Assists patrons at all public service points, including over the phone.
  • Provides instruction on use of library services.
  • Resolves issues related to patron records, complaints, fees, and holds.
  • Performs desk duties and processes library transactions.
  • Responds to situations in accordance with Library policies.
  • Cares for and maintains the Library collection.
  • Processes and packs ingoing and outgoing Library materials.

  • $12.25 per hour depending on experience.
