Civil War Pastimes, Monday, May 14, 7:00 pm

(May 4, 2012) Daily life for the Civil War soldier was not all marching and fighting; in fact, it was mostly spent in camp.  How did soldiers pass their time?  What kind of games, sports, music, and recreation were popular in the 1860s?  Join Leslie Heaphy, Associate Professor of History at Kent State University, Stark Campus, for a lively and informative look at how soldiers and civilians occupied their minds and hands during wartime.  Professor Heaphy is a popular speaker at the library and her special interest in the history of baseball will add extra zip to the evening.
