Lego Day - Family Fun Summer Special!

(August 5, 2013)  Love Legos? Missed some of our other Lego days? Now's your chance to play! On Tuesday, August 13, 2013 from 2:00-3:30pm, children ages 6 and up (and their parents/caregivers) are encouraged to stretch their imaginations and build to their hearts content with our Leogs. Bring your creativity, and we will provide the rest! Space is limited and this program ALWAYS fills up fast, so please call 330-868-4101 to sign up.

Science Day - Family Fun Summer Special!

(August 5, 2013)  This Wednesday, August 7 from 2:00 - 3:00 pm, children ages 6 and up (and their parents) are encouraged to come try several hands-on science experiments! These experiments are completely safe, and YES! you CAN try them at home! Children will even be able to take one of the activities home with them! Made possible by our own Super Science Sleuth, Kathy Heller, and the power of recycling! Space is limited, so please sign-up at the Youth Services Desk.

Book Blast Birthday Bash!

(July 31, 2013)  On Friday, August 2, from 12-1 pm at our Final Book Blast Summer Reading Program (for children 4 years old through 4th grade), we will celebrate the library's birthday in style! A FREE LUNCH FOR ALL KIDS will be served beginning at 11:45. Kids will enjoy a story while eating and then participate in a number of Birthday Games and Activities! We will also be awarding our readers that have read 100 books this summer! Come help us wrap up our Summer Reading Program with a party!

Preserving the Harvest--Freezing and Drying--Monday, 7:00 pm

(July 30, 2013)  Freezing and drying foods can provide a quick and easy way to preserve food while maintaining a high nutrient quality, but there is more to these methods than meets the eye. Christine Kendle from the OSU Extension Service will show how to properly dry fruits and vegetables to ensure both high quality and food safety. Canning Basics--Monday, July 29, 7:00 pm

(July 24, 2013)  Food preservation has made a comeback! Whether you have your own garden or enjoy produce from the market, canning can be an excellent way to preserve foods for year-round goodness. Learn how to safely and easily process foods using both water bath and pressure canning methods. Informational handouts and samples provided. Free pressure testing of your canner as well.  The program is free, but we would like a head count.  Please call 330-868-4101 to register. 

Rocks Rocks at Book Blast!

(July 23, 2013)  Things are really going to ROCK on Friday, July 26, from 12-1 pm at our Book Blast Summer Reading Program, for children 4 years old through 4th grade! A FREE LUNCH FOR ALL KIDS will be served beginning at 11:45. Kids will enjoy a story while eating and then learn all about Rocks with our special guest from The Wilderness Center! There will be numerous hands-on activities that are sure to fun for children of all ages!

Letterboxing & Geocaching - Family Fun Summer Special

(July 23, 2013)  This Wednesday, July 24 from 2:00 - 3:30 pm, children ages 6 and up (and their parents) are encouraged to come learn about letterboxing and geocaching. Attendees will be taught the basics of letterboxing and geocaching and how they differ. They will also create a letterbox trail name and a stamp before kicking-off their letterboxing hobby by following clues to find the letterboxes hidden around the library. Space is limited, so please sign-up at the Youth Services Desk.

Book Blast Goes Buggy!

(July 17, 2013)  On Friday, July 19, from 12-1 pm our Book Blast Summer Reading Program, for children 4 years old through 4th grade will be going Buggy! A FREE LUNCH FOR ALL KIDS will be served beginning at 11:45. Kids will enjoy a story while eating plus a fun & exciting special guest! This week, visitors from the Mount Union Nature Center will be teaching us all about the creepy-crawlies that can be found *outside* in our backyards!
