(January 14, 2010) The library will be closed Monday, January 18 for a day of leave without pay for all staff. This closing is part of the library's plan to manage the expected reduction in library funding this year. All staff will take leave without pay on January 18, February 15, October 11, and November 26 and 27. In addition all staff have had their hours of work reduced by 10% for 2010 and the Library Director and Fiscal Officer have taken 10% cuts in their salaries. Although the state funding outlook for 2010 is not good for public libraries, we believe that we can manage the library's limited resources in such a way as to continue to provide you with the services, programs, and materials that you expect from your local library. (December 17, 2009) Thanks to everyone who donated hats, mittens, gloves, and scarves for the library's Hat and Mitten Tree this year. Those items have been given to the Salvation Army to warm up Minerva area families this winter. The Hat and Mitten Tree is an annual program of the library's Youth Services Department and relies on library patrons and staff for donations. As always, your generosity is appreciated.

(November 6, 2009) The library's fall book sale came to a successful conclusion with the always-popular $1a bag spectacular. Eager readers found many great buys among the books generously donated by library patrons or withdrawn from the library's collection.
