Food and Nutrition Program Begins Tuesday, September 8

The library is pleased to partner with the Stark County Office of the OSU Agricultural Extension Service to host its Expanded Food and Nutrition Education Program.   Beginning on Tuesday, September 8, at 7:00 pm, Danielle Massey will teach an eight-week workshop focusing on nutrition, physical activity, and parenting practices to help families succeed in making healthy changes.   Each week includes useful tips on shopping and meal planning, help with picky eaters, information on new foods, recipes with samples, exercise and health information, and much more.   A snack is included during each workshop along with fun giveaways to help create a healthy lifestyle.    This free program focuses on parents with children, but all are welcome.  The sessions meet in the library’s Community Meeting Room and no registration is required.

Bats!--Monday, September 14, 7:00 pm

(September 8,2015)  Join us this Monday evening at 7:00 as Jamey Emmert from Ohio Division of Wildlife tells us all about our nocturnal neighbors.   Ohio is home to 11 species of bats, such as the Big Brown Bat below, which are important to our local ecosystem, and interesting creatures besides.  Learn about the only mammal that flies in this program for all ages.   We'll gather in the library's Community Meeting Room; no registration is required and there is no charge for this program.

Seven Wonders of the World--Monday, 7:00 pm

Pyramids, hanging gardens, a lighthouse, a giant statue.  What do they all have in common?  They are some of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World, and most of them are lost in the sands of time.   Learn more about these mysterious places when Lynette Reiner from the McKinley Museum visits the library on Monday, September 21, at 8:00 pm.   This program will fascinate and astound all ages: it meets in the library's Community Meeting Room, it's free, and no registration is required.
